We are starting off our series of Senior Highlights with 18EP player Brynlee Birney. Brynlee is a senior at Deer Creek High School and is a member of the volleyball team and is varsity team captain. Next year, Brynlee is committed to play volleyball at the Southern Nazarene University. Roll Storm!
Brynlee’s Senior Season Awards include: All-State Large West, All-Conference First Team, All-City Honorable Mention, All-Tournament Team Norman High, All-Tournament Team Heather Harkness, OKC Friday Player of the Week, and Deer Creek Varsity MVP.
Brynlee’s other awards include: (Junior) All-Conference Honorable Mention, 6A Academic State Champion. (Sophomore) All-Conference Honorable Mention, 6A Academic State Champion, OKC Friday Player of the Week. (Freshman) All-Conference Honorable Mention.Team Captain Peak VB 6 Years, Team Captain Deer Creek Varsity 3 Years, Team Captain Westmoore Varsity 1 Year
During her volleyball career, she has been named team captain six seasons with OP2, three seasons with Deer Creek Varsity, and 1 season with Westmoore Varsity. Brynlee’s parents say “[her] grit and poise is shown on and off the court. You can always count on her to take on any task that is asked of her. She is a fierce competitor and sets her goals high. We have enjoyed watching her play and look forward to what her future holds.”
